City to repair reservoir, advises sparing water use

The City plans to repair two valves at its reservoir in Brackenfell.

The City will repair two valves at its Glen Garry reservoir in Brackenfell at the weekend and has warned residents in the northern suburbs to use water sparingly.

The water and sanitation department will be doing repairs to the two 1000mm-diameter control valves from midnight on Saturday February 26 until midnight on Sunday February 27.

Inflows to the reservoir would need to be shut, but distribution reservoirs for Bloekombos, Wallacedene, Kraaifontein, Brackenfell and Bellville would be topped up in advance to maintain supply, the City said in a statement.

Residents in the affected communities should use water sparingly until the repairs were complete, the City said.
