The City of Cape Town hosted a group of Grade 11 and 12 pupils from various parts of the Western Cape at the Chambers Auditorium at the Civic Centre on Friday June 21 as part of a tour which the Rotary Club arranges each year with the intention to introduce the pupils to the different spheres of government. Sharon Cottle, the City’s mayoral committee member for corporate services, spoke to the pupils about the role and responsibilities of local government, and the history of the Chambers Auditorium. Ms Cottle and the City’s human resources department, also educated the pupils about possible career opportunities within local government and the City, giving the group insight into the skills that are in high demand.
