Kraaifontein police are investigating a suspected case of murder

Kraaifontein police need help to identify the man whose charred remains were found at a sports field in Walter Sisulu Street in Wallacedene at the weekend.

According to Kraaifontein police spokesperson Captain Hein Hendricks, police were called to Blue Ridge sports grounds after 10pm on Sunday January 10 where they found the victim who had been burned and died as a result of his injuries.

Captain Hendricks said their detectives were investigating the motive for the suspected murder and were trying to confirm the victim’s identity.

The City’s Fire and Rescue Service spokesman, Jermaine Carelse, said his team received a call from Kraaifontein police station informing them that a man had been set alight in Walter Sisulu Street on Sunday.

“Brackenfell fire crew and a medical crew from Bellville were dispatched to the scene and certified the deceased after 11pm,” he said.
