Two brothers who are pupils at Monument Park High School in Kraaifontein have been suspended and are facing a disciplilnary hearing after they allegedly attacked the principal, David Jantjies.
According to Western Cape Education Department (WCED) spokesperson, Jessica Shelver, a Grade 9 pupil had apparently been sent to see the principal by a teacher for being disruptive in class.
She said when the pupil’s brother was informed about this, he also went to the principal’s office. Ms Shelver said as the teachers were leaving the meeting, one of the boys allegedly “attacked the principal from behind and choked him” and the other brother joined the ‘attack’.
“The school reported teachers were close by to assist the principal. The school contacted the parents and the police,” she said.
A disciplinary hearing had been due to take place last Wednesday but Ms Shelver said it was rescheduled for this week.
Jamine Swart, a member of the School Governing Body, said they could not comment and referred Northern News to the WCED.
