Fabiano Cupido, of Kraaifontein, together with brothers Matthew Broderick Breet and Sheldon Jaret Breet remained in custody after they appeared in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court last Wednesday in connection with the murder of Brian Wainstein.
The case was postponed to January 17 next year for a bail application.
Wainstein was gunned down in his Constantia home in August in front of his wife and child.
Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks) spokesman Captain Lloyd Ramovha said the gunmen had allegedly taken cellphones before they fled, leaving the wife and child unharmed.
The Hawks arrested Mr Cupido, 39, in October for his alleged involvement in the murder.
Matthew 27, and Sheldon, 31, were arrested last month, and they are facing additional charges after further investigations uncovered a stockpile of ammunition, grenades, firearms and military hand radios in Kraaifontein.
“Follow-up investigations on Tuesday afternoon (November 28) resulted in a team from the Hawks setting their sights on a self-storage facility allegedly belonging to the elder brother in Kraaifontein, Cape Town.
“This culminated in the seizure of over 3 000 assorted rounds of ammunition, four firearms, four grenades as well as two military radios, some of these finds were made from a vehicle that was allegedly driven by Matthew before he was arrested,” said Captain Ramovha.
