The fifth annual Durbanville Carnival promises to be bigger and better than ever this year.
Morningstar Action Group (MAG) runs the carnival to promote unity and raise money for churches, schools and other community organisations.
MAG chairman Moosa Raise said the group pulled off its first carnival in 2012 with no budget.
“In 2012, this was very new to all of us, as we had never done something like this,” he said.
“We agreed that the funds raised would be shared equally among all organisations who were part of the event.”
This year’s carnival, at the Morningstar sports ground on Friday and Saturday November 4 and 5, will have rides for all ages.
There will also be a beer garden and a Little Miss Carnival pageant.
“This is a family event, and all activities and actions will aim to support the needs of the family,” said Mr Raise.
Some of the proceeds raised from the carnival will support MAG’s Christmas by Candlelight event on Sunday December 18 in Morningstar.
