Police have made a second big abalone bust in Brackenfell in as many weeks. Two weeks ago police seized abalone and processing equipment worth millions of rand in Bottelary Road (“Police seize abalone”, Northern News, July 12). Then, last week, police arrested three people for illegal abalone possession in the Okavango Business Park, Brackenfell. Police raided a vehicle in Kiewiet Street and found 40 boxes of dried abalone, possibly destined for export. Three men, aged 27, 27 and 37, were arrested and were due to appear in the Blue Downs Magistrate’s Court on Monday July 17.
