Most of the new officers from the City’s Law Enforcement Advancement Plan (Leap) have been deployed to Kraaifontein.
The plan has deployed 191 City Law Enforcement officers to bolster police, community police forum and neighbourhood watch efforts in Cape Town’s crime hot spots.
Kraaifontein ranks as the city’s murder capital, with 55 murders compared to Delft’s 52 and Nyanga’s 38, according to police crime stats for the last quarter of 2020
In August, Delft became the first community to receive the Leap officers, with Premier Alan Winde launching the plan there.
City Law Enforcement spokesman Wayne Dyason said 83 officers from the programme were deployed to Kraaifontein last month.
Deployments were based on “evidence-based policing” between SAPS and the provincial government, he said.
