Tygerberg Choir, under the baton of Linda Claassen, presents a programme of music by Gabriel Fauré in Cape Town City Hall, on Tuesday November 8, at 8pm. The choir was established in 1977 and rehearses at the Dutch Reformed Church, Oak Glen. The main work on the programme will be Fauré’s Requiem Opus 48 -In Paradisum. Soprano Elsabé Richter sings the emotive Pie Jesu and Barend van der Westhuizen is the baritone in the dramatic Libera Me. The City Hall organ is played by Stellenbosch organist Mario Nell while the orchestra is conducted by Lucia Di Blasio-Scott. Further vocal music will be the Ave Maria Opus 92, which is a duet for two sopranos, as well as the two songs of Opus 67, Salve Regina and Ave Maria. Tickets at R120 are available at Computicket.
