International R&B singer Tevin Campbell, who will perform at GrandWest later this month, says he is “very excited” and “can’t wait” for the concert.

“People like the old songs, and being that I have no new music yet that’s what I will be playing. There will inevitably be an intimate vibe,” he told the Northern News.

Campbell, 42, shot to fame in the 1990s after releasing the award-winning albums T.E.V.I.N. and I’m Ready.

Campbell said he could not wait to land on South African soil during this month.

“I look forward to being treated like a king. Everyone is so hospitable and nice. The fans are very appreciative, and I love that because I appreciate them just as much as they appreciate me, if not more.”

Audiences can look forward to hits like Tell Me What You Want Me to Do, Alone With You, I’m Ready, and Can We Talk.

“I will be performing some songs of mine that I haven’t performed here. When I perform new music there will be an album out,” Campbell said.

He said he felt “blessed and highly favoured” to still be performing after nearly three decades in the music industry.

“Lately I have been listening to music catering to my idea of the sound I am attempting to create. I also plan on doing some major discovering and exploring of South African artists when I get to South Africa,” Campbell said.

The show at the Grand Arena on Saturday July 27 starts at 8pm. Tickets cost from R195 to R350. Book at Computicket.
