Parow singer Lucrecia Rae says her new single, Rendezvous, is a tribute to the special times spent with a lover, and the things that remind you of them.
Rae, who studied performing arts at Northlink College, has been singing for as long as she can remember but says it wasn’t until she took part in the International Arts Talent Showcase (IATS) that she found her feet. It was also here, through IATS producer Elsubie Verlinden, that she met performing artist and producer Gino Lee.
They hit it off and got together to produce what the duo describe as “an infectious old school pop track”.
Because of Covid-19, Rae wrote the song through a series of Zoom sessions with Lee, who produced the single at his recording studio, River Road Records, in Gqeberha.
Rae wrote the song as a solo but, after hearing Lee’s scratch vocals on the demo, insisted he feature on the track.
“I remember going to Jerry’s in Blouberg and watching the live band perform. There was this couple that started dancing right in front of the band. They were so into each other, as if, in that moment no one else existed,” says Rae. “This track reminds me of that day at Jerry’s. The couple were so content.”
The single is a prelude to an album that Rae and Lee are working on and plan to release next year.
“We really hope that people will find their own personal attachment to this track and have it be the soundtrack to an epic summer,” says Lee.
Rendezvous is available online.
