■ The Grammy Award-winning Minnesota Orchestra, which launched its Music for Mandela project at Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis, last month, will perform a multi-week music festival dedicated to Madiba on his centenary in its home city this July, and in August the 90-member ensemble, led by music director Osmo Vänskä, will tour five South African cities, including Cape Town, where it will play at the City Hall, on Friday August 10, at 8pm, performing music by Bernstein, Beethoven and South African composer Bongani Ndodana-Breen, among others.
