Drama, comedy, cabaret, dance and lots of free entertainment are on the programme for this year’s Suidoosterfees, from Wednesday April 27 to Monday May 2, in several venues across the city.
“The festival offers an extensive variety of productions to suit everyone. The theme this year is ‘District 6!’, and it reflects and celebrates the people, the unity and colour of this community.
“It also highlights the rich diversity of our arts and culture and promises to be food for the soul. The City is a proud supporter of this inclusive event,” said Garreth Bloor, the City’s mayoral committee member for tourism, events and economic development.
Productions will be presented at the Artscape Theatre, the Fugard Theatre and the District Six Museum Homecoming Centre.
The line-up includes Emo Adams Is Duidelik, David Kramer: Onder die Spanspekgeel Maan; Shaleen Surtie Richards in Die Woema van ‘* Windgat Wyfie; Laurika Rauch and Elvis Blue in Hart & See, and a new drama titled Kristalvlakte including Ilse Klink, Brendon Daniels, Dean Balie and Royston Stoffels.
The annual Suidoosterfees Talent Search will also take place, with the finals on the Piazza, in front of the Artscape Theatre, on Saturday April 30, from 9am to 3pm.
