Celine dreams about winning a Grammy

Celine.
Durbanville-born singer-songwriter Celine will release her new single, Heaven (Remix), which she hopes will put her on her path of one day winning a Grammy.

She will release her new single at The Boer theatre in Durbanville on Thursday June 27.

She also released her first album, Blue, last year.
She said: “I started singing at the age of 11, so I have been singing for 12 years now. At about 13, I started to learn how to play instruments like guitar and drums while I started learning bass guitar about 4 years ago. At about 10 years old, I started developing an interest in pop and rock music that was popular at the time.

“I was very shy, and music was something I felt really connected to and felt I could use music to express myself. I began thinking of becoming a singer, but it wasn’t until I started singing randomly at a friend’s birthday party that I realised I really enjoyed performing and felt ‘alive’ when doing so.”

Celine describes her style of music as a fusion of her favourite genres such as pop, rock, blues and adult contemporary, which she believes is a style that can appeal to everybody.

She said:“Artists/bands that have inspired and influenced me include Joan Jett, Jessie J, Ellie Goulding, Alanis Morisette, Pink, Tegan and Sara, 4 Non Blondes and Janis Joplin.”

Celine added that she hopes to follow up K-Day by performing at all the music festivals in South Africa and hopefully an overseas tour in three years time.
“In 10 years’ time, I hope to be touring the world with my music, and a big dream of mine, as crazy as it seems, is to win a Grammy some day.”
