Aunty Merle The Musical returns to the Baxter Theatre from Monday April 2 to Saturday April 28.

Written by comedian Marc Lottering who plays Aunty Merle, the musical follows the high drama which unfolds in Belgravia Road, Athlone, when Merle’s daughter Abigail (Tarryn Lamb) announces her engagement to her Bantry Bay boyfriend Alan (Alistair Moulton Black).

But Abigail’s twisted and corrupt ex, Denver Paulse, (Loukmaan Adams), who holds a dodgy top job with the SABC, is determined to get her back. If not, he threatens to reveal a very dark secret, which is bound to tear the lovers apart.

The play was nominated for four Fleur du Cap awards last Sunday. This included Marc Lottering for Best Performance by a Lead Actor in a Musical or Music Theatre Show; Tarryn Lamb for Best Performance by a Lead Actress in a Musical or Music Theatre Show; Tankiso Mamabolo for Best Performance by a Supporting Actress in a Musical or Music Theatre Show; and Tarryn Lamb and Marc Lottering for Best Sound Design, Original Music Composition or Original Score.
